Google Assistant Go
Very recently, Google is has launched a series of apps naming them as ‘Go’ for the low end or low ram powered smartphones. Now, their assistant function also joined the bandwagon. Called “Google Assistant Go”. This feature is now available in the play store to download. This lightweight virtual assistant is designed for Android Oreo (Go edition) devices. There are no devices yet to be released on the market that is powered by this Android Oreo Go edition, we already have seen few apps that debuted late 2018. And there are no much signs of either the full Android Oreo update in the sight as well or the Go supported devices.
Files Go, Gboard Go, Google Go, Maps Go and finally Youtube Go have already arrived on the market, now Google Assistant Go. Coming to this lightweight virtual assistant, it offers most of the features present in the standard virtual assistant. By this, one with Go edition devices, they can quickly make phone calls, send text messages, play music, navigate to places, preview your upcoming events by accessing your calendar, weather info, as usual, regular questions. One can easily access the assistant just the same way with the standard assistant ie by pressing the home button or by clicking the mic feature in the search bar.
But, here lies the difference due to the fact that it is designed for lightweight performance and usage of less storage space of your devices. These include controls for the smart home devices, actions on google, and device actions, reminders etc. And more important of all is it doesn’t support handsfree functions such as Ok Google or Hey Google.
