Amazon Go- Walk-in, pick, go…
Amazon, the tech company behind revolutionising the shopping experience by introducing us to the online shopping way. Now, they are back with another, revolutionising the way we shop physically. They are no lines, no checkouts literally I mean quite literally. It’s like walking into the Amazon go store, pick your groceries, and just walk out the store.
You can wonder how its possible. It’s possible by using the technology which is quite similar to the self-driving cars. Those are computer vision, sensor fusion, deep learning. Which they simply call it as “Just walk out” technology. This technology automatically detects the products one picked from the shelves and keeps track in a virtual cart. All you need is an Amazon account (obviously), Amazon Go app and recent smartphone.
By scanning the smartphone at the entrance of the store to check-in, you don’t need it after that. Choose, and take the products you came to shop for, then just walk out of the store. The technology works its way and sends you the list of the items you shopped along with the total bill. So, no more waiting in lines at the checkouts, and paying for the stuff you bought etc. ufff… how boring is that, isn’t it?
In that 1,800 sqaure feet, they are more than just shopping though, you can have a meal designed by their chefs at Amazon Go stores. They also have special meal kits, which are suitable for two people and can be cooked in just 30mins. Don’t worry though there are associates who will take care if you ever need help.
Keeping the technology, Amazon is really trying in every new possible way by pushing itself and the boundaries of the traditional ways of shopping, to create a better experience of shopping.
